||The Skinny on Beauty|| Birchbox September 2013

September 30, 2013

Hey Skinnies,
This is a new installment to my blog, which covers product reviews and subscription services. This month was my second time receiving The Birchbox. For those of you who are unfamiliar with The Birchbox, this is a subscription service where you pay a monthly fee of $10 to receive a box full of beauty items. The items are in sample sizes to fit within the container. If you decide to buy the full size items, you’ll receive a discount on the price.
Opening of the Box. Heritage was the theme.

Items Include:
BCBG Maxazaria Perfume – This is my absolute fav in the box! The sample is small but has a spray, which makes it easy to use. The smell is clean with a hint of sultry notes. I actually stopped wearing my Jimmy Choo perfume to spray this baby on. Nice scent, I’ll probably purchase the full size.
Benefit Cosmetics Sugarbomb Lip Gloss –  This lip gloss is a nice shade that would look good for all skin tones. I can see myself using the entire sample size, but can’t imagine myself buying the full size version.
Ruffian Nail Polish in Hedge Fund – Nice polish but I wouldn’t purchase the full size. The actual color is something I don’t normally go for but this will be great for testing. It’s such a nice fall color that  it could go well with any casual outfit.
 Le Couvent Des Minimes Hand Healer – Very moisturizing hand cream. The only downside is the smell. It has a very strong scent of lemon cleaner, think Windex Cleaner. I tried using smaller amounts to cut down on the strength of the scent but somehow it was able to overpower my perfume. Not recommended if you wear perfume on a daily basis.

Sienna Naturals  Hair & Body Shampoo –  I believe I used all of this product within the first week. J  It’s enriched with Baobab Oil, which gives the shampoo a very moisturizing effect. This is such a great product that I would CONSIDER purchasing as a full size item however; my only concern is the price for this product. $18. I mean I can go to CVS, Ulta, Target, or even Whole Foods and find a nice body wash for a cheaper price. Not sure I’m sold but the quality of the product is on point.

My overall impression is much better than my first box last month. Looking forward to my October Box. I’ll be sure to post pics as soon as I unbox. To see more pictures, of this month’s box, check out my Pinterest Page.
