Hey Beauty Bugs,
The Showdown is a series where I take like products and compare them against each other for the same time frame. Sometimes “The Showdown” will also be a “First Impressions” review like this particular review. I’ve been hearing and seeing very positive reviews for the Kiss Aqua Beauty Balm (BB) Cream, I just knew that I had to grab a bottle. I also heard that Black Radiance which is a cosmetic line catering towards women of color, releasing a new BB Cream in January 2014. It was hard to find reviews on this product because of how new it is but after much search, I found a display at Rite Aid. I remember at my CVS near my job clearing the Black Radiance section and the associate letting me know that they were making room for new products. Lo and Behold, the new BB Cream. Hopefully, soon we’ll be able to see this BB cream in all drugstores. Until then, just call around to different stores to prevent from wasting gas. These two products made me break my #NobuyinJanuary Makeup rule but I’m back on track now. 🙂
Kiss Aqua BB Cream
It was very hard to choose a shade for this product. And considering that there was only one Medium Shade left on the shelf, I grabbed both. I’m glad I did because with my complexion I really needed both. Based on my very first impression of this beauty balm, I have to say it is a true winner! The coverage is really impressive for a BB Cream. When using I didn’t have to blot my face until more than 4 hours after application. This is shocking considering I did not use a primer.
Black Radiance BB Cream
Luckily with this product line, the display also includes testers. Smart move for Black Radiance! The shades available really cater towards the deepest of deep shades for women of color which is great and long overdue. I always feel like very deep shades are often neglected in the world of cosmetics. Unfortunately, the lightest shade is Cafe which is what I purchased. Although the undertones seem to match mine just right, I probably could use a step lighter in shade for a better match. With that being said, I think I can still get away with wearing this shade. More than likely my face will get darker in the summer months. The only downside is that with this BB Cream you will definitely have to wear a primer and/or powder if you are an oily girl. The product itself is pretty nice and I love the consistency (very smooth) and the coverage is pretty decent.

In conclusion, both are great products but I have to say the Kiss BB Cream is a beast and the winner for this round of “The Showdown”. Be sure you try out both for yourself! I’ll give a final review on both products after I have a chance to play around with the application and shine control.
Love God. Love Yourself. Love Family.
