When I heard about yet another “like skin” foundation, I had to finally jump on it. I’ve been curious about the L’Oreal Magic Nude Foundation and the most recent Bare Minerals BareSkin Foundation. For some strange reason, I wasn’t really moved to purchase the mentioned foundations. However, Maybelline got my attention especially with their price point. The frustrating thing is that there’s hardly any information on it on the internet. The Maybelline site itself still has no formal introduction to this new collection.
After hearing whispers that the only place selling it is a select few Bed Bath and Beyond locations, I immediately went on the hunt. On my second store hunt I found the beautiful display. Unfortunately this display had NO eye palettes.
I haven’t had the opportunity to wear it just yet because by the look of the swatch I did this morning, the shade is a tad bit too dark. So I will head back today to see if I can scoop up a shade lighter (90 Honey Beige) to mix. Unfortunately, this line of foundation darkest shade is 95 Coconut. It’s unfortunate because that seems to be the only true selection for women of different brown shades. If your brown skin is much deeper then you may have to pass on trying this out. What’s up with that, Maybelline?? Hopefully if they make it permanent they will add more shade selections like they did for the FIT ME foundations.
From what I can tell, it is very liquidy but light. Doesn’t feel greasy and dries pretty smooth. I can’t wait to test it out for you all. I’ll give the deets after I have some time to play with it.
For drugstore foundation reference:
Revlon Colorstay – Caramel
CoverGirl TruBlend – D4
CoverGirl Queen Collection 3 in 1 – Golden Honey
